<br> The origin of the world water day <br> Water is the source of all life's survival, social and economic development is an essential and irreplaceable natural resources and environmental elements. However, the modern society of population growth, industrial and agricultural production .activities and the development of rapid urbanization, on limited water resources and water environment had a tremendous impact. Globally, water pollution, water demand is increasing rapidly, as well as intersectoral competitive development resulting from the unreasonable use of the water shortage and water environment further .even more aggravated, seriously affecting the socio-economic development and threatens the well-being of humankind. <br> <br> In order to raise public awareness of water, and establish a more comprehensive system of sustainable use of water resources and the corresponding .operating mechanism, 18 January 1993, the 47th General Assembly of the United Nations Conference on environment and development 21 century developed the recommendations formulated in the agenda for action, adopted resolution No. 193, OK since 1993, the annual March 22 as World Water Day ."," to promote a comprehensive and integrated water resources planning and management, strengthening the protection of water resources, solve the increasingly severe water shortage. At the same time, through a wide range of educational activities, enhance public awareness of development and protection of .water resources. <br> <br> Recalling the United Nations Conference on environment and development, the General Assembly adopted Agenda 21, chapter 18 of related articles; considering that although all social and economic activities are greatly dependent on the supply and quality of freshwater ., but people are not generally aware of water resources development in improving economic productivity, improve social welfare function; also with population growth and economic development, many countries will soon be caught in a dilemma, water scarcity will be limited to economic development; further consideration .to promote water conservation and sustainable management needs at the local level, national level, regional and international public awareness. <br> <br> 1. in accordance with Agenda 21, chapter 18 recommendations, since 1993, determine the annual March 22 as world .water day. <br> <br> 2. Requests States according to their national circumstances, in this day of water protection and the development and implementation of Agenda 21, the suggestion has carried out a number of specific activities, such as publishing, dissemination .of publications, meetings, round tables, seminars, exhibitions, etc., to raise public awareness. <br> <br> 3.
